Mission, Values and Goals


  • It is a patron’s responsibility to maintain necessary and proper standards of behavior in order to protect his/her individual rights and the rights and privileges of other patrons.  
  • If a patron creates a public nuisance, that patron may be restricted from the Library and from the use of the library facilities. Those who are unwilling to leave or do not leave within a reasonable amount of time, after being instructed to do so by the staff, will be subject to the law.

Internet Use
  • Internet computers can be accessed during open business hours.
  • Parents or legal guardians of minor children are solely responsible for the Internet use and behavior of the children in their care.
  • The Library cannot assume this responsibility.

Meeting and Study Rooms
  • The meeting rooms are available for groups or individuals to conduct organizational or program meetings, seminars, study groups, planning sessions, training programs, informational/educational programs and related activities. 
  • Our meeting / program room fits approximately 25 people and must be reserved in writing.

  • Study rooms are provided in order to offer quiet study space as well as to contain the noise of small group meetings. 
  • Study rooms are primarily for the use of those age ten years and older. Use of the study room by individuals under the age of ten is at the discretion of the librarian. 
  • The study rooms may be reserved up to one week in advance or used on a first-come, first served basis if not reserved. 
  • Study rooms may be reserved for up to 2 hours per day. Patrons may extend their reservation by one hour each time their session ends, provided no one else has made a reservation.

Privacy of Library Records and Library Use
  • The Delafield Public Library protects the privacy of library records and the confidentiality of patron use of the library as required by relevant laws. In addition, the Delafield Public Library Board supports the principle of freedom of inquiry for library patrons, and has adopted this policy to protect against unwarranted invasion of the personal privacy of library users.

Services of the Library
  • The Delafield Public Library provides materials and resources for information, entertainment, intellectual development, and enrichment of the people of the community.
  • Services Policy
  • The library will serve all residents of the community and the public library system area. Service will not be denied or abridged because of religious, racial, social, economic, or political status; or because of mental, emotional, or physical condition; age; or sexual orientation.
  • The use of the library may be denied for due cause. Such cause may be failure to return library materials or to pay penalties, destruction of library property, disturbance of other patrons, or any other illegal, disruptive, or objectionable conduct on library premises.
Test Proctoring / Exam Monitoring
  • The staff of the Delafield Library encourages people to continue learning throughout their lifetimes, and is willing to service patrons who wish to take written (only) examinations given by educational institutions.  The responsibility for arranging the exam-taking is the testee’s.
